Trevor Francis was born and educated in Plymouth. He went on to win 52 Caps for England, scoring 12 goals and became the first £1 million footballer, when he was purchased by Nottingham Forest. He went on to win the European Cup twice with Forest and is now a Television Pundit."

Phil Vickery MBE was a member of England's World Cup winning squad in 2003, playing all 7 matches in the tournament and he went on to earn 73 caps for his country. Vickery, was born in Bude and played in three Rugby World Cups, including as England captain in the 2007 tournament, and toured Australia and South Africa with the British and Irish Lions.
